With over half a decade of work behind it, SALTIGA LD combines everything Daiwa has learned around the world. From the USA, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, every bit of feedback and experience has been absorbed and packaged into what could only be described as Daiwa's best Lever Drag reel ever built.

It all starts with the precision-machined one-piece aluminum body and side plates. This hard shell encapsulates what differentiates the SALTIGA LD from its competitors: meticulously crafted drive wheel and pinion gears made of insanely stainless steel. The stainless steel gears are harder than brass and much more resistant to the worst marine conditions in which this reel will be used.

Stainless steel gears are usually criticized for lacking fluidity, but Daiwa's engineers have overcome this problem, producing a gear set that is more refined and smoother, yet more powerful and durable than anything else on the market .

SALTIGA LD has undergone improvements throughout, addressing the concerns top anglers identified with Level Drag reels of the past. A drag chamber that is smooth and capable of handling both mono and braid was one of the most obvious improvements. the lever has been totally redesigned to allow finite and precise clutch control even at the lowest settings.
