OXBOW ORCHARD GRASS HAY HAY FOR RABBITS AND RODENTS
Orchard Grass Hay - simple food for rabbits and rodents
green grass hay with a fruity aroma very appreciated by small herbivorous animals. To the untrained eye, it might look identical to timothy hay (timothy or Phleum pratense), but the seed heads have a different shape.
Orchard Grass is a flat leaf cold season perennial herb. The leaves vary in color from green to blue-green depending on the ripeness of the plant. The lower surface of the leaf is not shiny and the sheaths of the leaves may be a little rougher to the touch than those of the timothy.
Orchard Grass hay given its nutritional content is highly recommended by veterinarians for small herbivorous mammals. Orchard Grass can be mixed with other grass hays to make your little friend's meal more exciting. Animals seem to like variety! Mixing grasses will encourage them to eat more hay, which is beneficial to their health.
Hay is absolutely vital for the health of small herbivores. It also offers a source of long fiber necessary to improve gastrointestinal functions by stimulating the entire digestive system. When the animals are fed with hay at will, their natural chewing is promoted and thus helps to prevent excessive growth of the teeth with consequent malocclusion of the premolars, molars or incisors, dental disorders that are very common in these small herbivores.
ORCHARD GRASS HAY HAY IS A TASTY ALTERNATIVE TO TIMOTHY HAY!

Orchard Grass hay can be given at will to rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, prairie dogs and other herbivores as an alternative to timothy grass (botanical name: Phleum pratense) and to the bunch grass (Dactylis glomerata). By “at will” we mean that it can be administered at any time. If they run out of what they have, more must be given! Hay should be used not only for dietary purposes, but also for behavioral stimulation and the promotion of natural foraging.
Advice:
Try to feed hay in new and imaginative ways to increase your consumption.
Rabbits like to eat hay in their own litter box.
Fill a cardboard tube, basket or animal-safe toy with hay and place it in your pet's favorite spot.
Place a layer of hay on the bottom of the cage and hide food / treats in the hay to encourage foraging.
Spread hay everywhere: in the hutch, in the corners, behind the sofa, etc.
Offer a variety of mixed hays to entice animals with sophisticated flavors.

All grass hays (timothy grass, moss grass, oats and bromine) have roughly the same nutritional analysis as above. Due to the diversity of soil and growth conditions, these values are not constant but undergo a natural variability.
Oxbow Animal Health hays are not chemically treated, they are 100% natural. Hay is a product of nature, so the texture and color can vary according to the season, climatic conditions and exposure to sunlight or artificial light. Depending on these factors, the appearance of the hay can be more or less green, with some stalks tending to yellow or brown, although they may seem less appreciable to the eye, the organoleptic properties and quality remain unchanged.
