Allergic reactions appear when the body reacts to some protein molecules. The protein molecules present in the highly hydrolysed diet are so small that the dog's immune system does not react against them, thus helping to avoid allergic reactions. It helps to minimize allergic food reactions.

- Proteins with a molecular weight less than 10,000 daltons are normally not detected by the immune system.
- The source of carbohydrates is refined corn starch, to contain less than 0.3% of vegetable proteins.
