The Spheros SW offers the right balance between technology and price. Able to handle inshore and occasionally offshore spinning admirably, with HAGANE Gearing and the body to tackle any challenge, the Spheros also has Shimano's X-Protect protection to ensure its longevity.


While the Spheros SW has an impressive line-up of features and technology, and will serve you well in the most demanding situations, it is not a cheap alternative to a Stella or a Twin Power! For inshore work and occasional deep sea fishing, it's a great low-cost option, but for continuous extreme fishing, for massive tuna, GT, grouper or shark, you'll get better service from one of the more expensive models.

That said, for anglers who are often traveling or on holiday wanting to create their own tropical set-up, the larger sizes are an ideal choice with great value for money.
The Spheros is a practical reel that goes well beyond its price point. With a HAGANE aluminum body, this is a very durable reel.

The HAGANE Gear, X-SHIP combination is also enhanced with InfinityDrive to provide plenty of torque and starting power.

And it has X-Protect water protection (IPX8) to keep water out of important moving parts.

However, the clutch doesn't have as much power as its more expensive siblings, and there are a few fewer ball bearings placed around the construction. That said, the Spheros is a great choice backed by Shimano's high-quality reputation.
