Small dogs go through a short and intense growth phase. If they receive all the energy and proteins they need through nutrition, they multiply their body weight by twenty in just 10 months. A small dog that is properly fed from an early age has a long life expectancy.

Royal Canin X-Small Puppy is calibrated on the particular nutritional needs of small dogs (up to 4 kg) in the growth phase, and can be administered starting from 2 months of life:

• harmonious development of bones and muscles: muscle development and bone consolidation continue until the 10th month. The dog's energy requirement per kg of body weight is 1.6 times higher than that of an adult dog. The calorie intake must therefore be adjusted accordingly, to avoid the risk of the dog gaining weight too quickly.
• Reinforced palatability: thanks to croquettes of specific consistency, shape and size, complete with selected nutrients and natural flavors, perfectly preserved.
• Digestive safety: in the first months of life, the digestion of puppies is very delicate. Digestive capacity develops slowly and some substances, such as starch, are only partially digested. A specific diet enriched with highly digestible proteins, fruit-oligosaccharides and fish oil promotes digestion and assimilation of food.
• Strengthens the immune defenses: a synergistic antioxidant complex (taurine, lutein, vitamins C and E) helps build immune defenses. Mannan oligosaccharides strengthen local immune defenses in the intestine. The essential fatty acids Omega 3 and 6 protect the intestinal mucous membranes.
• Croquette for mini jaws: small croquettes with a specific shape and a consistency suitable for milk teeth.
