Robust and easily adaptable slow growing marsh plant that adapts well to both emerged and submerged cultivation. The rhizome, to prevent it from breaking or dying, must remain outside the substrate or must be attached to logs, rocks or aquarium furnishings. It is easy to see flowers of this plant in the aquarium. It needs a low fertilization especially based on chelated bivalent iron and manganese to avoid the appearance of old yellow spots (chlorosis) on the leaves. Thanks to its robust and leathery leaves it is not usually eaten by phytophagous fish and therefore it is very suitable for aquariums with cichlids. This variety has brown petioles and leaves, while the leaf blades can be slightly blistered.
