The royal python is one of the most timid and meek snakes ever. Easy to get scared, if frightened it tends to hide the head under the body first and then roll up on itself forming a ball. Not surprisingly, in America, the common name of the Python regius is not Royal python, but Ball python.

This species has clear sexual dimorphism. Adult males can reach a total length of 60 cm,

however, most of the specimens do not exceed 35–45 cm. Females are smaller,

with an overall average length of just under 30 cm.

This saurian originates from the arid and semi-desert regions of central Australia.

It is a diurnal animal and a skilled climber; it is omnivorous and feeds on invertebrates and sometimes small mammals,
